Hate Wrinkles? Redbook Magazine Explains How Your Dentist Can Help
A special thanks to one of our patients for bringing the October 2016 issue of Redbook magazine to our attention.
Here’s why: The magazine’s ‘”Ultimate Anti-aging Guide” offers advice from dermatologists across the country on “beauty advice to use now and forever” to help us “look younger and feel healthier.”
But wait—one dermatologist also mentions how GOOD DENTAL CARE can help you achieve a more youthful appearance.
Here’s what the magazine quotes Dr. Mary Lupo, clinical professor of dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, as saying:
“I urge all my friends to go to the dentist twice a year for regular checkups. I cannot emphasize how important bone density and dental health are to your face. Without a strong framework, the skin on top appears more lax and wrinkled.”
Dr. Lupo explains how recession in this facial framework works: “The bones above and below your teeth—right around your nose as well as your chin and jaw— will start to recess, which means you’re gong to lose some of your cheekbones and jawline. Your teeth will recede too, making the nose and chin jut out and appear witchy.”
Dr. Lupo says she reminds her patients to get enough vitamin D and calcium, and to take good care of their teeth. Thanks, Dr. Lupo. We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves!
