Here’s One To Chew On
Brush. Floss. Rinse. We’ve heard this important dental mantra before. But how about adding the word “chew”?
In recognition of October’s National Dental Hygiene Awareness Month, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has partnered with Wrigley (yes, Wrigley, as in gum!) to stress the importance of oral health.
Clinical studies show that chewing sugar-free gum, especially after eating and drinking, helps stimulate saliva which helps neutralize plaque acids and wash away food particles. Patients with dry mouth issues will also find that chewing sugarless gum stimulates saliva flow to similarly dilute plaque acids.
