Mooooo! Are you an all-day grazer?
Grazing may be just fine for livestock, but it’s not great for your teeth. Here’s why:
Lingering over that sugary caramel Frappuccino means that the pH balance in your mouth becomes more acidic, leaving teeth exposed to acids that could erode dental enamel. The more often you “graze,” the more frequent the acid attack.
If you must snack: Try to avoid gummy or sticky sweets and nibble on nuts, fruit, cheese or carrots instead. These foods can actually help reduce the effects of other acidic foods. If you find yourselves especially prone to noshing during the commercials each night, try having dessert, then brushing your teeth right afterwards. There’s a good chance that you might be more discouraged to ruin that clean, fresh feel by continuing eating.
