Types of Dentures
Not all dentures are the same, as some are removable partial dentures, fixed partial dentures (bridges), or complete dentures that replace all teeth.
We offer these types of dentures:
- Removal partial dentures: Mimic the look and feel of your natural teeth with this suitable option to replace such a few of your teeth, which use the surrounding teeth as support.
- Complete dentures: These conventional full-mouth dentures are inserted if you have no teeth and your gums have had time to heal from any infection or trauma. Although we offer complete dentures, we frequently recommend dental implants or dentures supported by dental implants (bridges), because full dentures are only supported by your gums and the remaining bone. With no tooth roots underneath the gumline to stimulate the jawbone, it will gradually deteriorate and this makes the denture ill-fitting over time. When finances permit, we highly recommend dentures supported by implants rather than traditional dentures.
- Fixed dentures (bridges): These are dentures that are permanent and cannot be removed. They are supported by dental implants and the bridges are meant to replace multiple adjacent teeth. For complete fixed dentures, you will need 4 implants in the to upper jawbone, as it is not as dense as the lower jawbone, which only requires 2 implants.
