Intravenous (IV) Sedation in Delaware County

Reducing Fear & Pain during Dental Procedures

Intravenous sedation, or IV sedation, is an excellent option for patients with a high degree of anxiety, for those with physical or mental disabilities, or for those who need to undergo a large amount of restorative or cosmetic work and prefer to do so in the shortest amount of time.

Offering IV sedation on-site versus in a hospital or freestanding surgical facility like most other doctors is significantly more cost-effective for our patients. It also allows them to remain in a more comfortable and familiar environment during their procedures which makes the whole process go smoothly.

To learn more about our intravenous sedation process, call us at (610) 298-0402.

How Does IV Sedation Work?

With the help of a board-certified anesthesiologist, your Delaware County dentist will introduce intravenous sedatives into your bloodstream. The sedatives are an anti-anxiety medication that will induce a safe state of deep relaxation. Your medication levels can be increased as needed to make sure you are completely relaxed and unaware of your dental treatment.

Even people who have difficulty getting numb will have no problems with IV sedation. For your safety, all vital signs will be closely watched by your dentist and anesthesiologist.

We will monitor your:

  • Heart rate
  • Oxygen saturation levels
  • Blood pressure

You won’t experience any pain, anxiety, or worries, as you will be totally comfortable and unaware of the surrounding sights, smells, and sounds. Patients usually have no memory during or after their dental treatment. Because of your relaxed condition, we can often accomplish multiple procedures in only one or two visits.
