Do you know someone who is too scared to visit a dentist? Even with today’s
modern, comfortable and overall pain-free dentistry, some individuals
experience dental anxiety so severe that they hesitate to schedule needed
dental care. Or maybe these individuals have a physical disability or
limitation like severe gag reflex, an inability to sit still for long
periods, or difficulty getting numb— something that prohibits them
from receiving important dental care.
If you know someone like this (or maybe it’s you!) we’re pleased to announce that Williamsburg Dental now offers Intravenous (IV) Sedation Dentistry right here at our Williamsburg Drive, Broomall office.
With IV dental sedation, patients receive intravenous medication that completely sedates them. Their dentist is able to perform high quality preventative and cosmetic procedures efficiently and in shorter periods of time. Dr. Robert Spennato has been providing this special, safe service to patients at the Brinton Lake Surgery Center, but this is the first time IV sedation will be offered right here at our Williamsburg Dental location.
“Our IV sedation patients should feel even more comfortable knowing they’re receiving this service here from me, along with a board-certified anesthesiologist, in a place where they’re already familiar with our friendly staff,” noted Dr. Spennato. “Also, patients will realize huge cost savings since they’ll no longer have to pay surgical suite fees to another facility.”
Unfortunately, millions of Americans, and many of our existing patients, suffer from dental anxieties or conditions that make preventative or cosmetic dental care challenging.
“The option of IV sedation, or oral conscious sedation via oral medications, provides these patients with a safe, no-anxiety method of having critical dental procedures accomplished,” said Dr. Spennato, who received specialized training and certification from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) as well as training at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute (LVI) of Advanced Dental Studies.
